At the "MAN Truck & Bus Supplier Award 2011" presentation ceremony in
Munich in June this year, MAN Truck & Bus recognised ten companies for their
outstanding performances. In all, 1,200 suppliers contribute to making MAN's
trucks, buses and engines particularly efficient and reliable.
Bernd Maierhofer, Director of R&D and Purchasing of MAN Truck & Bus AG,
made the awards together with Björn Carlsson, Head of Central Purchasing, Dr
Jörg Willert, Head of Engineering Bus and Dr Horst Schmidt, Central
Department Manager of Forward Sourcing. During the event, suppliers had the
opportunity of driving various MAN buses and trucks themselves on the test
track. In his welcoming speech to the guests, Maierhofer emphasised: "Cuttingedge technologies, excellent service and customer orientation are what make
us strong! As suppliers, your reliability over the course of many years
contributes to that. With regard to our objective, which is to develop and
manufacture reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly trucks, buses and
engines, cooperation with innovative and flexible suppliers is of the greatest
importance to MAN."

The companies honoured supply MAN in various areas and the laudations
touched on different aspects of cooperation. Bozankaya Metall & Kunststoff,
with its subsidiary in Turkey, is a partner for complex framework modules.
The high level of customer orientation and the realisation of cost reductions
without loss of quality exhibited by Dometic WAECO International were
convincing.
The quality of the products supplied to MAN by EFS Euro Forming Servicing is
above the ordinary and the company exerts itself in continually improving
manufacturing processes.
In the field of exhaust-gas cleaning, HJS Emission Technology GmbH has
contributed its high level of technical know-how to MAN's emission-reduction
developments.
MAN recognised Johnson Controls Autobatterie GmbH as a strong partner
whose cooperation has been a long and reliable one.
With its innovative, top-class window lifters, KÜSTER Automotive Door Systems
laid the foundation for successful collaboration with MAN.
Exemplary quality and adherence to deadlines are two of the qualities shown by
Lang Metallwarenproduktions- und Vertriebs GmbH.
The speech in honour of Mekra Lang Gmbh & Co. KG mentioned not only the
punctuality and quality of the company's deliveries but also its reliable supplying
of spare-parts for MAN trucks and buses.
Scherdel GmbH was a supplier of parts for the very first engine made by Diesel
at the end of the nineteenth century. Since that time, Scherdel has continued to
supply MAN with engine parts of a technically highly demanding nature.
Joint developments of materials such as high-strength fine-grain steel for truck
chassis have distinguished ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG as a supplier.
