Call for Artists: “Printmaking 2015” Open to all Printmakers in the Region Presented by Pittsburgh Print Group Pittsburgh Center for the Arts 6300 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232 August 21 – November 1, 2015 CALENDAR Exhibit Duration: August 21 – November 1, 2015 Opening Reception: Friday, August 21, 2015 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm Digital Submissions Due at PCA: Tuesday, June 2, 2015 Before 4 pm Notification of Acceptance: Tuesday, June 16, 2015 Drop-off Accepted Work: Thursday, August 13, 2015 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Pick-up Exhibited Work: Monday, November 2, 2015 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Artists must pick up work at the scheduled time after the close of the exhibit. Artwork not picked up will be placed in storage at the artist’s risk and expense. A $25.00 per day storage fee will be assessed. After 30 days, artwork will become the property of the PF/PCA. Pittsburgh Print Group is a non-profit organization of artists who work in all fine art printmaking media. Founded in 1972, the Print Group is dedicated to artistic excellence and the perpetuation of printmaking as an art form. Exhibition, education and artist networking are the Pittsburgh Print Group’s primary activities. ELIGIBILITY This exhibition is open to all printmakers in the Pittsburgh region. A printmaking process – relief, intaglio, silkscreen lithography, monotype – must be central to the execution of all entries. Photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered; however, photographs and other digital images may be used as part of the final image but may not stand-alone. Work must be original and new, created within the past three years, and not exhibited previously at the PCA or within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh. JUROR, KIM BECK Kim Beck is an Associate Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University. She received her MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design and her BA from Brandeis University. Using images of architecture and landscape, Kim Beck makes drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, books, cutout sculptures and installations that survey peripheral and suburban spaces. Most recently, her work was part of the 2014 Pittsburgh Biennial at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Her work has been shown widely including on the High Line in New York City, at the Walker Art Center, Carnegie Museum of Art, Smack Mellon, Socrates Sculpture Park, Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, and the Warhol Museum. She was recently commissioned to create a new installation at the Indianapolis Museum of Art 100 Acres Park. ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS/PROCEDURE All work will be juried by digital submission. Artists may submit up to three (3) works for consideration. NOTIFICATION Notification of the jury decision will be sent on June 16, 2015 via e-mail unless you specify otherwise. Submission materials will not be returned. Digital Entry Requirements: All images must correspond to the entry form. Each 2-D entry must be represented by one full digital image. Digital images must be in .jpg format. Resolution should be set to 300 DPI with no more than 8 inches on the longest side. File name for each JPEG must be as follows: artist’s last name followed by first initial, followed by entry number (1 to 3), key word(s) from title (1 or 2 words ONLY). For example: SmithJ_1_seascape_.jpg Note: Images may be used for show promotion. Do not use special characters such as periods, comas, slashes, pound signs, asterisks, etc. to name your files. Each image should accurately reflect the work submitted. Images must be oriented properly and will not be manipulated by the juror or the committee. Digital images must be submitted on a CD. Discs should be sent in a case or cover. Both disc and case must be labeled clearly with the artist’s name, phone number and email address. Note: Accepted works must be gallery ready. Guidelines will be sent with acceptance notification. SALES PCA Shop handles all sales from exhibitions. Commission on sales is 55% for PCA guild members. Please make sure to consider this when pricing your work. INSURANCE Work will be insured while on exhibit by PF/PCA at 50% of the retail cost. A Condition Report must be completed by each artist for work on exhibit.
