Because of the Crusades, trade increases (due to soldiers bringing back goods and ideas from other countries). The system of feudalism can no longer meet the needs of the increase trade. Merchants become more wealthy than feudal lords. People begin to care more about their country and embraced new ideas about religion, government, medicine, art, and commerce.
