Operations Superintendent for a regional weather center located at Barksdale Air Force Base, LA. I was responsible for overall operations for a unit that forecasted the weather in a 10-state region known as Tornado Alley. I interviewed new folks to determine the best position to place them in, and helped manage unit work force in a 150-person organization. I tracked metrics in an effort to improve forecasting capability. Prior to the above assignment, I was Systems Training Manager for the entire weather career field. While there, I developed paper, computer, and web -based training materials for the career field. This included a comprehensive 300+ page training workbook on a brand new weather forecasting and dissemination system. This workbook is still in use today. I was also my unit’s computer expert.
