As one of the most prestigious international documentary competitions in Asia with a history of over 20 years, the biennial International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary is constantly striving to honor excellence and provide a quality platform for communication and cooperation in the documentary industry. In 2013, the competition is co-hosted by International “Gold Panda” Awards Office and CCTV Documentary Channel. Winners will be invited to attend the International “Gold Panda” Awards Ceremony. All winning programs will receive a “Gold Panda” statuette and certificate from the Organizing Committee. b. CCTV Documentary Channel will report the competition in its special TV program. c. CCTV Documentary Channel will select film(s) either to license for broadcast or for a special single broadcast with agreement with the entrant(s). d. Excellent entries will be screened at 2013 SCTVF International TV Program Market, and open to professionals, filmmakers and buyers attending the market. e. Entries will be recommended to domestic and overseas distributors and broadcasters present at 2013SCTVF. f. Qualified entrants will enjoy discounts in market registration and exhibition of 2013 SCTVF. g. Selected entries will be recommended to other related international award festivals. h. Selected entries will be promoted on the official website of Sichuan TV Festival, which is visited by domestic and international buyers. i. Information of selected entries will be published in the Catalogue of International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary free of charge, which will be given to media organizations, jury members and delegates of Sichuan TV Festival. j. Nominees and winners may be invited to participate in non-profit exhibition screenings and seminars co-organized by the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary Office and relevant Chinese media organizations. k. In order to encourage documentary production in China and promote excellence, nominees and winners may be invited to attend SCTVF conference, address on campus and put on solo exhibition. Rules & Regulations Eligibility a. The competition is open to entries from domestic and international film studios, televisions and multi-media producers and distributors, as well as independent producers. b. Entries are not required to have been broadcast or distributed, but must have been completed between 1st August 2011 and 30 June 2013. No limits are placed on the length of entries. d. Only organizations or individuals that own the copyrights of the entries can submit. A completed entry form must be sent to the Organizing Committee together with DVD(s) and other related materials required. e. Co-production partners should confer to decide which organization will be the entrant. Fees All entries are exempt from entry fees. Language Entries must be in the English language or accompanied by English script with time codes. Requirements a. Acceptable formats for submission: PAL standard DVD. b. Applicants must complete a separate entry form for each entry, indicating the intended award category. The Organizing Committee has the right to edit the supplied information for promotional purposes. c. A minimum of 2 different JPEG or GIF digital images (800 X 600 pixels) need to be submitted. The images will be used for the publication of the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary and the official website of SCTVF for promotional purposes. d. Entries are not allowed to contain any advertisements. e. The entrant is responsible for the safe shipment, insurance and shipping cost of the entry. The Organizing Committee will take every reasonable precaution in handling entries, but will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or non-receipt of entries however so caused. f. Entry Deadline: 30 June, 2013. All entries including DVD(s) and related materials must be submitted to the office of the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary before 15th July, 2013. Rights Clearance a. Entrants are encouraged to provide promotional clips of their entries. If no clips are provided, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to use approximately 5 minutes of clips from each entry free of charge for promotional purposes. b. The Organizing Committee may use selected programs for promotional screenings at International TV Program Market of SCTVF opened to professionals as well as buyers. d. DVD(s) will not be returned, but retained in the reference database of the International "Gold Panda" Awards. The reference database does not serve any commercial purpose. Jury & Awards a. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide the eligibility and category of each entry. b. An international jury appointed by the Organizing Committee will decide the nominees and winners. c. All decisions of the Jury are final. The Jury may recognize more than one winner for a given award or decide no winner for that award. d. All winning programs will receive a “Gold Panda” statuette and certificate from the Organizing Committee. e. All nominated programs will be mailed (to the address provided at time of entry) an official certificate. Acceptance a. Participation in the International “Gold Panda” Awards for Documentary implies full acceptance of the Rules & Regulations of this competition. b.
