Humanities I Mrs. Cave-Mattie Greece Mythology Research Initial Research Project To start off our unit on Greece, you will each be assigned a “person” to research. Unlike the unit on Egypt, you will NOT be creating a poster and presenting your “person” to the class. Instead, you will create a 1 page informational sheet on your topic. Everyone will hand in their informational sheets, and I will send them to central copy to be printed in a “book-like” packet for you to use as a reference throughout the unit. You will be tested on each, but I will provide exactly what you will need to know prior to the exam. I say “person” because you will not all be researching deities. Instead, while some will research the most prominent Greek gods and goddesses, others will research popular monsters and creatures, popular semi-gods and spirits, as well as Greek heroes. Some of the names will sound familiar to you; others will be completely new. Below is a general idea of what your informational sheet should look like. I am NOT expecting a research report here…I just want the basics on your “person”. Your information must fit on a regular sheet of typing paper. Some of you will have more informational to go through than others, and those of you with larger topics will have to sort through the facts to find the most important information. Depending upon your assigned topic, you may want to include the role or duties, physical description, special powers, relationships, and/or the significant story related to your topic. I do expect each of you to have at least one picture that corresponds to your topic. If you can’t find a picture of your “person”, then think outside of the box and find one that relates. We will have 2 class periods dedicated to this research. Some of you may have trouble finding the right information if you just type in the name you are given. You have to tie the name to Greek mythology in your search. If you do not get your mini-project completed during the allotted time, you will have to finish it on your own. Projects are due: Tuesday, February 17th. Point value of assignment: 30 points. NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
