ROLE PROFILE Title: Project Manager Directorate: Chief Operating Officer - Economy and Employment Level: 4 ROLE PURPOSE: Successful delivery of a portfolio of projects to enable delivery of the pregnancy and maternity discrimination work stream, to agreed timeline, within budget and of high quality Develop and provide specialist / technical advice and expertise on allocated areas, working with legal, policy and communications colleagues to develop the Commission’s public position on equality or human rights dimensions Delivering excellent customer service in building relationships with stakeholders to enhance the Commission’s reputation and ensure delivery of programme objectives ROLE CONTEXT AND SCOPE: Reporting to the Programme Head of Economy and Employment, the 12 months role provides project management and specialist expertise, ensuring the successful delivery of projects as identified in the business plan. The role holder will develop expertise in selected areas to inform the Commission's approach to policy issues and for public statements and is expected to work autonomously to deliver quality work, under supervision of a senior manager. The role holder will analyse different types of data and information and will draft concise and readable documents based on strong evidence. S/he will be expected to develop external stakeholder networks to support the delivery of allocated work and enhance the Commission's reputation. S/he will be expected to work with the communications team in ensuring the design of the guidance responds to user needs and makes best use of social media and website capability. TYPICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Deliver projects, or parts of projects, following project management principles, and within budget and timescales ensuring collaboration and co-ordination with colleagues across the Commission Plan own work to meet wider project aims, outcomes, resource use and deadlines and following Commission operating rules and systems. Contribute to project and resource planning Ensure budget for own work is appropriately and efficiently managed Respond to internal and external customer needs / requests, delivering appropriate responses 1 through the provision of specialist knowledge and advice Gather, analyse and evaluate different sources of information and draft concise, readable documents for internal or external audiences based on strong evidence and to support decision making Develop stakeholder relationships relevant to work area and work in partnership with range of stakeholders to ensure delivery of shared goals and enhance the Commission's external reputation Represent the Commission at external events and communicate corporate messages May manage and develop employees within project teams, supporting the Programme Head in the successful delivery of agreed the Commission’s goals Analyse data and draft high quality documents for internal or external audiences Adopt and promote a flexible approach to work, undertaking other areas of responsibility as required ensuring the overall business priorities of the Commission are delivered 2 TYPICAL PERFORMANCE MEASURES: Delivery of high quality projects to budget and time frames Successful work with stakeholders to develop the Commission's reputation Demonstrable development of expertise in allocated area Evidence of professional judgment about risk Delivery of written outputs of a high standard INDICATIVE DIMENSIONS: Delivery of several projects, ranging from short (under 6 months) to complex, longer projects lasting 12 months Responsible for working collaboratively in a small team and across the Commission.
