Latin American Bilingual Montessori Public Charter School (LAMB) Special Education Teacher Job Description SY 2014-2015 LAMB Mission: “To create a self-directed learning environment in which children build a foundation of knowledge essential for a life time of learning while developing bi-literacy in English and Spanish”. Job Summary: Under direction of the special education coordinator and/or designee, implements student IEPs in inclusion and pullout settings. Support coordinator with administrative task including compliance, chairing multidisciplinary (MDT) meetings and ensuring academic progress for students participating in special education programs. Educational Characteristics 1. Minimum bachelor’s degree in special education credentialing in specialized curriculum and instruction preferred. (Eligible for Highly Qualify Status is required) 2. Minimum 5 years teaching experience. 3. Program and personnel management experience is essential. 4. Bilingual (English and Spanish) MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: Ensures Academic Progress Delivers instruction services as stipulated on IEPs Delivers research-based intervention to small groups (or individual) students Assists with the development of IEPs that are curriculum based, relevant for the individual student, and complete Stays abreast of best practices Develops strategies to enhance special education performance on standardized tests Ensures cooperative relationships with general education staff Assists in the development of modified/accommodated work IEP Team Participant Participates on IEP team to discuss and address student needs Collects and reports student data vis-à-vis IEP goal (academic/behavioral) progress Ensures parents are welcomed as participating partners Drives Compliance Assists in with the maintenance of compliant special education files Assists with the provision of staff development/ training as needed Assist with the supervision of service providers and implementation of goals.
