POSITION: Teacher LOCATION: Nevada City, CA SALARY: 43K – 60K DOE OVERVIEW: The Special Education Teacher provides differential instruction to students with a primary disability of Emotional Disturbance or Autism. Instruction is individual & in small groups of 6-7 students. The Teacher facilitates instructional activities coordinating with Residential & Therapy staff members. Teachers ensure that each student makes appropriate progress on IEP goals, & that accommodations & modifications are implemented. Teachers also establish procedures that result in a consistently safe & nurturing environment for students & staff. Duties include, but are not limited to: Design & present instruction with a clear & logical structure using the Common Core Standards & approved instructional materials Provide direct instruction in vocational education, character development, career development, communication skills & recreation/leisure skills Skills needed to perform the job functions: Ability to work with all staff, families & agencies in a Level 14 residential facility Ability to plan, organize & prepare IEPs, behavior plans & transition plans for students with severe disabilities Write IEPs designed to produce educational benefit Adhere to federal & state laws pertaining to NCLB & IDEA Ability to coordinate services among school, therapy & residential components Administer & interpret a variety of current academic assessments Implement each student’s IEP as it is written in accordance with the law Provide students with specialized instruction based on their unique strengths & needs Complete all required reports in a timely manner Maintain student confidentiality & communicate effectively QUALIFICATIONS: Have a current California Teaching Credential. Credential must include Mild/Moderate certification.
