
University of Mississippi- welcome/recruitment party. Two speakers came last semester,
and another two scheduled this semester. Looking to visit local K-12 (pharmacy and
pharm sci).

University of Sao Paulo- focus on biotechnology programming. Held workshop in
pharmaceutical biotechnology. Nanocariers, gene therapy, cell culture all highlighted.
Careers in academia noted. Event on PK week-long course.

University of Tennessee, Memphis- Student presentations for journal club: This is the
most regular activity of the student chapter. Members give short seminars on research
papers of their choice. The rest of the members in turn give valuable comments to the
presenter. Personal and academic Development Seminars: we organize talks on resume
writing, proposal writing and using reference management software’s such as EndNote
every other year. The reason for not organizing each of them every year is that the
content then becomes redundant and the members loose interest. Visiting Scientist
Program: In October last year we invited Dr. Arnab Mukherjee from Pfizer who gave a
talk on ‘The role of Pharmacometrics in Drug Development’. For May this year our
chapter has invited two speakers to give talks at the University of Tennessee. One is Dr.
Leslie Benet from UCSF, and the other is Dr. Terry Allen who is Professor Emeritus at the
University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Social Events: In summer this year we plan to
organize a bowling event for the members which will be the social for this term.

University of West Virginia- focusing outreach and professional development. Working
with Morgantown boys and girls clubs. Using experiment packet. Working with Ronald
McDonald house. Partnering with pharmacy student organization to promote

poster sessions. Partnering with society for pharmacoeconomic outcomes research
student chapter. Starting off conference with a workshop. Invited other chapters on the
call. Faculty dinner series. Industry tours (CPRC) and protea biosystems.
