Historic Prince William Presents Bacon Race Church and Cemetery by Darlene Hunter on Thursday, May 10, 2012, 7:30-9:00pm Three churches occupied the Bacon Race Church and Cemetery site, variously known as Occoquan Meeting House, Bacon Race Church, and Oak Grove Church, with the earliest church built on the site c. 1774. Led by Elder David Thomas, it was Prince William County's first Baptist Church. Ms. Hunter is a Certified Genealogist specializing her research in Northern Virginia and especially Prince William County, Virginia. She also has transcribed many records as a volunteer for RELIC and currently serves as a Library Service Tech III at Bull Run Regional Library and has published articles in Reliquary on the Prince William County historic sites of Moor Green and the Bristoe Tract. The Public is invited to attend this free presentation by Historic Prince William at 7:30 pm on Thursday May 10th, 2012 in The Occoquan Room of the McCoart Building at the McCoart Government Administrative Center off the Prince William County Parkway. McCoart Government Center entrance on the right. The parking lot is by the building on the left. From Interstate 66: Take The Prince William Parkway/Route 234 Exit and follow the Prince William Parkway/Route 234 going south toward Woodbridge approximately 11.6 miles.
