Ultimate Frisbee Study Guide Object of the Game: To catch the frisbee in your designated end zone. Played with 2 teams consisting of many players, typically 8-12 players. Rules: 1. Defense may not physically stop opposing players. They are allowed to stand within 3 steps of the offensive player with the frisbee. They may not "steal" the frisbee (grabbing it out of the offensive player's hands). They can intercept an airborne frisbee. 2. The offensive player with the frisbee is allowed 3 steps in any direction. These 3 steps can be used as purposeful steps or as steps to stop momentum. The steps cannot be used to make contact wiht the defense. If more than 3 steps are taken, the defense takes over the frisbee. 3.If the frisbee hits the floor or the walls in the end zone, it goes to the team which did not throw it or hit it last. 4. In order to score, the fisbee must be thrown into the endzone and caught by the offensive player. If the frisbee is "trapped" against the back wall in the endzone, it goes to the defensive team and no point is rewarded. 5. If the frisbee is thrown into the endzone and knocked down by the defense, an offensive player must pick the frisbee up, take 3 steps out of the endzone and continue play. 6. Side walls (bleachers/curtain) are playable. In other words, if the frisbee deflects off of the side walls, the offense or defense may catch it and continue play. There is one exception to this rule. If the frisbee comes to a stop atop the bleachers or in the bleach steps, the frisbee goes to the team which did not throw it or touch it last. 7. After a touchdown is scored, the defense takes over the frisbee from the endzone that was just scored in. They have unlimited steps within the endzone to start their offensive possession. They may not take steps out of the endzone. The defense is not allowed to come into the endzone at this point and must maintain the 3 steps from the person with the frisbee.
