FT Cannons Online www.cannonsonline.com Medieval Cannons Cannons Online, Inc. makes full-scale custom artillery that rivals the originals and spans the ages. Hand-smithed iron on our carriages and high relief artwork on our bronze barrels prove our versatility. From medieval hand held cannons to converted 8” inch rifle carriages…our artisans provide collectors, museums and reenactors with authentic reproductions at competitive prices. Reproductions of the medieval cannons below will be available soon. This Howitzer is made of wrought iron or bronze. The inside diameter is 4.5" and the outside diameter is 5.5". The 1/2 inch refers to the thickness of the steel liner. The barrel is 36-37 inches in length. The barrel and carriage cost $12,950 and they are one of a kind. The Howitzer in the photograph is located at Heeresgeschichtliches Museum/Militarwissen-schaftliches Institut, Vienna. This Bronze gun has a 3" bore and 3/8" steel liner. Cannons Online, Inc. uses only cold rolled DOM liners, the safest. The price for this barrel and carriage system is also $12,950. We replicate these guns. Bronze gun located at Schweizerisches Landesmuseum, Zurich The Percussion Cannon Igniter Experiments with percussion methods to fire cannon began in the 1820s, when the percussion system was developed for firearms. This igniter, made sometime between 1830 and 1860, was designed to hold a metal priming tube with a percussion cap head, which was inserted into the cannon vent. Although effective, it was complicated to manufacture and the simple and reliable friction primer was adopted as the standard ignition method.
