Practice Area
Pharmacist
The practice area covers: Hetton-le-Hole, Easington
Lane, and parts of Houghton-le-Spring and East
Rainton.
Your local pharmacist is able to give friendly expert
advice regarding over the counter medication that
can help with a wide range of common conditions
without an appointment.
Carers
GP’s (Family doctors)
The practice has an ongoing commitment to carers.
Please inform reception if you care for someone
paid or unpaid.
We also have Princess Trust leaflets and packs
available at reception.
…………………………………………………………………
Your local GP practice provides a comprehensive
range of services including general medical advice
and treatment. If it is not life threatening call your
GP first. Your GP has your records and knows your
medical history, medicines and allergies.
GP Out-of-Hours
Some people who attend A&E. could be treated
elsewhere. By going to the right place first time you
can get the right treatment from your NHS.
Each year the A&E department in Sunderland
sees almost 61,000 patients, almost 9,000 of
these are from the Coalfields area.
This is an average of 171 patients per day, 25 of
which are from the Coalfields area. It is
believed a large proportion of these could
have been treated by their GP, a local
pharmacist or treated themselves with basic self
care, first aid and advice.
Many people automatically go to A&E as soon
as they feel ill or have an accident. Please
read the range of options listed to help people
get the treatment they need.

Teaching / Training Practice
The practice is a teaching practice and takes

training practice we take qualified doctors on a 6
month rotation, these doctors require additional
experience of working within General Practice; all
registrars are supervised by our GP trainer – Dr Khaja.
What we expect from you
Treat us with respect and courtesy at all times. Let us
know when you no longer need an appointment or
cannot keep it so it can be offered to someone else.
The practice operates zero tolerance on abuse or
violence.
Home Visits
Home visits are more time consuming and so as the
doctors time is already limited, fewer patients can
be seen. It is very important that you attend the
surgery whenever possible. If you think you may
need a home visit please contact the surgery
‘before’ 10:00am so that if the GP feels that a home
visit is appropriate, visiting can be planned
effectively. In general, children and babies are
expected to be brought to the surgery.
