The planning for the Grist Mill Trail Extension was done by Maryland State Department of Natural Resource Planning 2. The engineer for the project was Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani Consulting Engineers 3. The Contractors were: a. Pickens and Sons, Inc. The General Contractor for the Patapsco Greenway Trail (Orange Grove to the Patapsco River) b. John W. Brawner Contracting Company, Inc. Installation of the Cable Anchors and Tower Seats for the Ilchester Cable Stay Bridge over the Patapsco River c. Sahale, LLC , Design, Fabrication, Delivery and installation of the Ilchester Cable Stay Bridge over the Patapsco River 4. The new cable-stayed footbridge bridge is 164 long from abutment to abutment and was designed to reflect the Bollman Truss bridge that was originally built in the late 1820s. Sahale LLC utilized the original abutments in their design of the new foot bridge. According to Patrick, O’Donnell, who worked on the bridge, the original abutment are within 0.01 inch in elevation of each other. 5. The group instrumental in advocating for the Grist Mill Extension: The Friends of Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway Inc. (FPVHG) They are a group of people who are dedicated to preserving , protecting, interpreting and restoring the environment, history and culture of the Valley.
