LUMC Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Rotation Schedule
MEDICINE:
RRC Needs:
20 months of “direct patient care”
ICU (at least 2 months)
Emergency Medicine
Clinical experience in cardiology and geriatrics
Program Needs:
Neuro Clinics (combination of ambulatory adult and pediatric Neurology)
Other:
Nightfloat: no more than 8 weeks in residency. We perform 2 weeks (1 block) as an
intern and 6 weeks (3 blocks) as a senior resident.
ROCs (Random On-Calls): during service months, you may have a ROC on a Friday
night. You will be preferentially assigned to cover your service type (e.g. HOB = Heme
service, Onc service, and Bone Marrow Transplant unit).
ICU: maximum 8 months total as Med-Peds resident. We typically do 7.
4+1: Med-Peds residents are well-integrated into the Medicine 4+1 system. We are
assigned to Firms, attend Friday School (even while on Peds!), and even participate in the
scheduling “draft.” Here is a basic template of Med-Peds rotational experiences in 4+1:
INTERN MONTHS

Block A

o NF (2 weeks) with vacation (2 weeks)


Block B
o ICU or Service (4 weeks)

o 3 “plus 1” weeks in Urgent Care
o 2 weeks “Other”
SENIOR MONTHS

Block C
o ICU (4 weeks)
o Service (4 weeks)
o NF (2 weeks) with vacation (2 weeks)
o 3 “plus 1” weeks - subspecialty clinics

Block D
