Med-Peds Monthly Meeting Minutes April 2015 Present: Bailey, Hughes, Mollo, Parker, Schwab, Sulo, Tengerstrom, VanNatta, Warren Absent: The rest Topic 1: BPH - Don’t be fooled by a normal exam, symptoms can still be present - Think alpha blockers first, then 5-alpha reductase inhibitors Topic 2: Celiac disease - Remember the association with other autoimmune diseases - Check TTG (IgA, if not deficient) for those with suspicious symptoms - Reserve HLA (-DQ2 or -DQ8) testing for asymptomatic family members Other business: - Medicine draft - do NOT pass on a round of drafting - have no fear… “Fellowship interview gap” can be filled in later - Increasing procedural proficiency - Paracentesis Clinic being explored for +1 week experience - Scott Smith Clinic a possibility for thoracenteses - Women’s Health/Adolescent Gynecology also available - Clinic changes - Adult Triage Pool will be working to avoid redirecting patient calls immediately back to Peds Triage for the sake of efficiency and patient satisfaction - All forms will be directed to Peds front desk, all faxes to 708-216-3375 - All med refills will be routed directly to providers Med-Peds Chief selection: - after much deliberation, the Med-Peds Chief Resident Selection Committee, in cooperation with the ASPCA and your friends at Whole Foods, is excited to announce that Drlawrencemollo@gmail.com has been selected as the 2015-2016 Med-Peds Chief.
