Principal Purpose:
To support to the Research and Development Centre in
becoming the leading edge R&D centre for boilers and
related technologies by 2015.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree, or equivalent, in relevant Commercial, Science or
Engineering discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in relevant discipline and working towards
professional qualification (i.e. Chartered Member of
Institution)

2.
KEY DUTIES
1.
To develop personal and technical skills and knowledge, which will contribute to
the work of the R&D centre
2.
To share knowledge and experience and contribute to training of staff as
required.
3.
Provide Project Management advice.
4.
Write internal proposals for work/cost estimates.
5.
Approve the content of proposals for work.
6.
Assistance with Projects and Proposals as requested by the Manager, R&D
Projects.
7.
To provide support to the Project Controller, as required.
8.
To assist the Manager of R&D Projects in delivery of the corporate objectives of
Doosan Babcock.
9.
Contribute to the adoption and improvement of R&D Project Management
processes to improve delivery and performance.
10. To develop personal and technical skills and knowledge, which will contribute to
the work of the R&D centre
11. Write reports and other documents.
12. Check/review reports and other documents.
13. Willingness and enthusiasm for travel (both UK and overseas) as required for
meetings and conference attendance.
3.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.
To adhere to company procedures and systems (including quality, safety,
environment, administration, security) and to contribute to the improvement of
such procedures (e.g. R&D Operating Procedures) where they can enhance
performance.
2.
To provide expertise within R&D in support of the Department’s activities.
3.
To coach/support staff in their work in order to develop their expertise and
contribution to the company.
4.
To propose development work (internally or externally funded) to meet
company objectives, to execute approved projects and to contribute to the
effective exploitation of completed projects.

5.
To identify innovative ideas and propose those which have the potential to
contribute to the work of the R&D Centre.
6.
The provision of advice and guidance on matters relating to intellectual property
within R&D and liaison with Company IP specialists.
7.
Ensure R&D comply with all the IP requirements.
8.
Ensure that all IP generated within R&D is entered into the Company systems.
9.
The provision of advice and guidance on matters relating to Commercialisation
within R&D and liaison with Company Business Units on commercialisation
strategy.
10. Ensuring that all development within R&D is effectively commercialised with the
Business Units
11. To provide support to the Project Controller including arranging meetings,
coordinating communication, preparation of reports and presentational material
for internal and external use, documentation management, preparation of
promotional material and events.
12. To lead and participate in projects and reviews of topics as requested by the
Project Controller, including the reporting of KPD’s.
13. To assist in coordination of project management activities
