Description:
I would like to nominate Michelle Amidei for her outstanding work with the Lakewood
High School (LHS) PTSA. She has been the Fundraising Chair for the After Prom
Committee for the last 2 years and is also the LHS PTSA Scholarship Chair. After Prom
is a safe, fun event held after prom. It’s held from 10PM-5AM at Lakewood High School.
The students are given a safe, fun environment to continue prom. The free event is open
to all juniors and seniors.
Michelle has worked at almost every school athletic event at the concession stand to raise
funds for the After Prom event. She has coordinated all of the volunteers that have been
able to help at the concession stand over the last year. She has written solicitation letters
to vendors to donate food and goods to the After Prom party. Michelle has also sent out
solicitation letters to all of the LHS junior and senior parents to contribute to the After
Prom event. Michelle also volunteered before and during the After Prom event. Because
of Michelle’s amazing ability to amass donations and goods for this event, the event is
offered free to all students. She was successful enough this year and last year to leave
behind a sizeable monetary cushion that will allow next year’s After Prom to be bigger
and better than this year and still be free to all LHS students.
In the spring, Michelle coordinates a team of LHS parents and teachers to evaluate the
essays submitted by LHS students for PTSA scholarships. With Michelle’s outstanding
leadership, the LHS PTSA was fortunate to be able to give out 4 scholarships last year
and will give out 4 scholarships this year to some outstanding students.
For her dedication in recognizing the academics and for her remarkable support of the
After Prom event for the students of Lakewood High School, I would like to nominate
Michelle Amidei for the Jane Hammond Applause Award.
