Recent Advances in Manufacturing (RAM) is a database of bibliographic information for
manufacturing and related areas. It covers items in well over 500 niche and mainstream
journals and magazines, and also details of some books, videos and conference
proceedings. RAM is a free service available from TechXtra.
While the Internet is a rich source of information for engineers, there is still a place in the
portfolio of resources for journal articles written by specialists on specific topics. RAM brings
together such articles in both the engineering and the management areas of manufacturing
and related subjects. This specific dual focus is unique among databases.
RAM essentials
 A searchable database of over 30,000 bibliographic references, updated monthly
 Words and terms may be searched for in the complete record, or individually in author, title,
keyword, journals, etc., fields.
 Data goes back to 1990, and may be searched all together, in five-year groupings, or by
latest update only.
 Both Simple and Advanced Search options
 Items may be displayed by full record, author, title, keyword, journals, etc.
 Full text of documents may be obtained from the British Library Document Supply Centre
(BLDSC).
