days, fines can be paid and exit can be processed in
Aviation Police Bureau or Harbor Police Bureau; for
a period exceeding 31 days and more, in the Police
Bureau in the place of residence (stay).
Standards of fines imposed upon foreigners who reside (stay) over expiration date are as follows:
a. Over 10 days and less: a fine of NT$1,000
b. Over 11 ~ 30 days: a fine of NT$3,000
c. Over 31~ 90 days: a fine of NT$5,000
d. Over 91 days and more: a fine of NT$10,000
e. For persons less than 18 years of age: 50% of the
above respectively

if any danger to public interest is found.
The foreign spouse who is divorced losses the reason
for residence, therefore, he/she may not reside any
more in principle, but for the sake of taking care of
child (children), he/she may be allowed to continue to
reside based on the reason of "other need for residence".
In principle, legal problems would not be the reason
for continuing to reside after divorce, however, the
residence may be extended depending on the need of
individual case.

acquire R.O.C. nationality?

Basis of Laws/Regulations: Nationality Law and the Enforcement Rules thereof
Terms of Applciation: A foreign spouse can apply for naturalization to acquire R.O.C. nationality if -- He/She has a
resident place within R.O.C. territory (after obtaining Alien Resident Certificate) and legally resides in this country for a total of 183 and more days per year in 3 and
more consecutive years. He/She is full of age of 20 and is
a competent person according to R.O.C. and his/her home
country laws. He/She is of good moral character without
any criminal record. He/She submits evidence of sufficient property or skill to support or protect his/her living,
and the evidencing document of loss of original nationality, or non-nationality, certified by a R.O.C. embassy or
representative and verified by MOFA. He/She submits the
document evidencing unavailability of acquiring the certificate of loss of original nationality due to reasons not
attributable to him/her, which is checked and verified by a
foreign affair authority.
3. Nationality and Domiciliary Register

Procedures of Application: Application should be made in
person to the Population Administration Office in the
place of residence for submitting to MOI for approval.

Aplication form for naturalization
Original copy and Chinese translation copy of the
document evidencing loss of original nationality or
non-nationality, certified by a ROC embassy or representative (Chinese translation copy may certified by
a notary); or according to the proviso of Article 9 of
this Law, the original and Chinese translation copies
of document issued by a foreign affair authority certifying that the declaration is verified true. (Chinese
translation copy may be certified by a notary).

marriage. If the transcript is unavilable, submit the
documents evidencing marriage and the nationalities/identities of foreign spouse and ROC national
spouse. However, in case of getting married in Taiwan, the certificate of single status of foreign spouse,
together with the Chinese translation copy thereof,
certified by a ROC embassy or representative should
be otherwise submitted.

in the domicile place of the biological mother. However, the minors of the time of promulgation of this

and Families in Special Difficult Situation
Terms of Application: R.O.C. females of the age above 15
and under 65, (the foreign spouse who have not yet obtained ID cards should make application for aids according to respective regulations of local governments -- so far
theStatute is applicable to Taipei City only), the average
income per person per month after alotting total family
income evenly among all family members does not
excced 2.5 times of the minimum living cost standard of
the current year published by government and not exceed
1.5 times of the average consumer expenditure per person
per month in Taiwan area, and comlying with one of the
following cases:

one-year imprinsonment and is now put in jail.
Details of Aids:
Emergency subsistence aid: This is to be given in the
amount double the monthly minimum living cost per
person of the lower-income household in the current
year. In principle the aid is given for 3 months each
time and limited to one time for one case.
Child subsistence allowance: Who has children under
15 is given the allowance equaling to one tenth of the

minimum wage of the current year per person per
month; the apllication for this allowance should be
made every year.
Medical allowance for injury or illness: To be given
to the female who has participated in national health
insurance but can not pay for the portion of self-paid
medical expenses of more than NT$50,000 in the recent 3 months and and has no other subsidies or insurance benefits.
Kid nursery allowance: If the female has child (children) under 6, he (they) will be sent to public nursery
schools in priority; if sent to private schools, an allowance of NT$1,500 per person per month will be
given.
Litigation subsidy: The female who can not pay litigation fee for the ases such as family violence, sexual
infringement or other offenses will be give a subsidy
of NT$50,000 per person per case at the maximum.
Procedures of Aplication: Whoever complies with the
above provisions may call or direct contact the authorized
authority (Social Affair Bureau) in domicile place. Please
refer to the Schedules hereinafter for telephone No.

a. Keep calm, don't say any word to excite the counter-party, nor strike him back either, so as to avoid

Actions to take when suffering sexual infringement:
a. The most important thing is to keep evidences; go
to hospital for an inspection to get the evidence,
don't wash your body and change clothes either.
b. If you have reported to police for assistance, there
will be policewomen going with you to hospital for
a detailed inspection, injury examination and relevant evidence collection.
c. Don't be afraid, because isolation measures are
taken for investigation of the case to protect your
privacy.
d. During investigation and trial, there will be legal

with strangers but with one sex partner only. Do safe sex
behavior, so encourage the other half of yours to wear a
