Vitlycke - Centre for performing arts
Vitlycke - Centre for performing arts is a place for investigation and creation, for research,
training and education. A platform where artists can meet, work and discuss.
A place where national and international companies will be able to concentrate on their
creations, in a calm environment in the middle of nature, detached from the rhythm of the
city.
Vitlycke - Centre for performing arts aims to be a place where rehearse and create, but also
where to present both informal showings and finished works, open to an audience.
Our aim is to create excellent working conditions, so that it will become an important space
on the national and international performing scene, with widespread visibility.
The studios
The main studio is 16 m long x 14 m wide and 5.40 m high.
Can be transformed into a "black box", with sound equipment, black sliding curtains and
black dance linoleum. For the 2014, we aim to equip the space with bars for lightning, light
equipment and a tribune for the audience (ca. 100 - 120 seats).
Regarding the working spaces, beside the main studio, there is a smaller studio (87 m2),
that will be possible to use also as atelier for visual art, sound recording or video editing.
Accommodation
Regarding the accommodation, Vitlycke dispose, at moment, of:
3 double rooms, 3 lofts, 6 single rooms (3 with big beds) and a small house, used as
double room. Two of the rooms have private bathrooms and three other rooms have a
sink. The other rooms share 3 common bathrooms/toilets and 3 common showers.
Vitlycke-Centre for performing arts will also dedicate time to project focusing on education.
The yearly program will include a cycle of workshops; a summer intensive school and an
intensive coaching project, with selected groups of participants. Guest teachers,
choreographers, theatre directors and dramaturges will be invited to hold the workshops
and to share their reflections and experiences on the creative process.
Vitlycke aims to guest and organize also projects connected with visual arts, music, martial
arts, new circus, youth, literature, new media&internet communication, theory and cultural
production, and different other events.
Vitlcyke is based in Tanumshede (Sweden). The location is quite ideal, being almost right in
the middle between Oslo and Goteborg, in the country side, just beside the Vitlycke
Museum, in a UNESCO protected area, visited for it's famous Bronze Age stone carvings.
Networking
We have the intention to collaborate with networks of dance houses and performing
centers. We are in conversation with several networks interested in involving Vitlycke in
different projects supported by the Culture Program of the European Commission.
Vitlycke is already involved in the LEAP teaching project, supported by the EU, within the
Leonardo projects. LEAP involves as partners: ICK - International Choreographic Arts
Centre (NL), ISLO - Eastern Finland Sport Institute (FI), Le Pacifique | CDC
(FR), Tanzhaus Zürich (CH), Vitlycke Center for Performing Arts (SE) and Wiener
Tanzwochen (AT).
