Getting to Know Chemistry Laboratory
Equipment
Over the course of the year, you will be using a lot of lab equipment. It is vital that you can
associate the name of these pieces of equipment with the equipment itself early on, and that you
have a source to look back at later when you need it. In addition, it is important to learn where
that equipment is located. The Chemistry teachers will also be making an effort to use internet
technology with this class as much as possible, and would like you to become comfortable with
the format in naming and submission as soon as possible. As such, you are to follow the
directions below to complete this assignment.
Goals:





To collect images of the following pieces of lab and safety equipment within your group
to learn where the equipment is located in your classroom
To place those images into a document or project format of your choice (note, images
should be sized appropriate to the application they are placed in)
To learn the purpose of the equipment listed
To submit the completed assignment electronically
o Documents/ projects should be saved/ emailed under the name of “equipment
lastname lastname lastname” For example, if Gary Larson, Jodi Picoult, and Brad
Pitt all work together, the document should be named:
 equipment Larson Picoult Pitt (alphabetical order, please)
o Submit the document or link via email to your teacher (either jclarke@rtmsd.net,

You have the freedom to use online sources to determine what this equipment looks like.
Following that, you should take a picture of the equipment in the classroom, and record the use
of that equipment. It is your choice how to do this, as well as how to present that information to
your teacher. However, it must be in an electronic format for your group.
