Classroom Technologies Services Tactical Plan Current Academic Services Information Technologies (IT) Academic Technology services include the following: • • • • • • • • Print Services (PawPrints): Student fee-based printing (now in color!) and scanning is available in each IT computer classroom and lab as well as at a dozen satellite locations across campus. Learning Commons Design and Support: IT works with UNM faculty to design and manage open educational commons spaces across campus. Faculty Development and Support: IT provides training and direct support for all academic technologies in generally scheduled classrooms and labs. 277-5757 provides faculty a direct line to technical dispatch. Classroom Technology Design and Support: IT supports UNM faculty in the design and management of 14 computer classrooms and 150 media enabled classrooms for UNM students, faculty, and staff. Faculty Course Evaluations, Test Scoring & Survey Software: IT provides professional scanning and electronic and evaluation support. Collaboration Spaces Technology Design: IT provides professional consulting and space design for new classrooms commons, conference rooms, outdoor spaces and other physical and virtual spaces in support of teaching and learning at UNM. Event Support: Special Events and Media Support, including rentals and staff support is available for events that are generally short-term and may not require permanent facilities, services or equipment. Media Services: IT offers development and publishing of digital multimedia content for academic and administrative uses. IT can assist faculty with digital recordings of lectures and publishing of those lectures for student viewing. Media can be published to an array of locations. Current and Issues Related to Existing Services There continues to be questions surround the role of IT CT vs. the role of the various Provost units providing Academic Technology, especially with EU and the Libraries. This year CT has built on the merged foundation with backend services at IT and is now working with faculty in various Work domains across campus to better adapt our classrooms and labs to these domains. o o o o o English Stretch and Studio faculty worked with CT to redesign ESCP South. Academic Technologies Approach In general, AT frames our work as “improving the student and faculty experience” and strive to understand and improve the overall experience at UNM. AT has a very deliberate approach to working with our customers and recognizes that we have various customer segments that have different needs. o Annual student and faculty surveys o Annual student focus groups o Proof of concept projects with formal assessments and student feedback o Participation and engagement through formal committees and meetings Vision UNM students and faculty, as well as the staff that directly support them, have easy access to the core services and technology to be productive and successful in teaching, learning and research, unfettered by place or time. 12-24 Month Milestones Over the coming twelve to twenty four months, Academic Technologies will continue to make improvements to the student and faculty experience.
