Poster and Presentation on an Earthquake or
Volcano Due: Tuesday 3-18-14
Working independently, you must research and learn about a specific volcano OR
earthquake. You must display your findings on a poster or in a brochure, which you will
present to the class. Read below to discover what you must include in your poster and
presentation.
For your earthquake poster:
Title and location of earthquake
Diagram of your earthquake, labeling the fault line, the plates, the epicenter, and
the focus
list the casualties
describe the impact on society
describe the damage
explain the Richter scale
list the Richter scale magnitude
list 5 interesting facts
show where the earthquake occurred on a world map
include at least 3 photographs or drawings of the damage
list the books or websites you used for your information
For your volcano poster:

Diagram of your volcano, labeling the crater, the vent, the magma, and the lava
list the casualties
describe the impact on society
describe the damage
explain the Volcanic Explosivity Index
List the Volcanic Explosivity Index

 Describe the damage and aftermath.
