

3.
Payments are secure. There is no need to worry about lost, stolen or misplaced checks.
Money deposited into your bank account is automatic. Direct deposit eliminates having to
make deposits in person. You can be assured your money will be deposited to your account
correctly and confidentially.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT PAYMENTS?
Visit the Comptroller website at www.comp.state.md.us to complete and sign the GAD X-10
(ACH/Direct Deposit Authorization for Vendor Payments) Form found at
http://comptroller.marylandtaxes.com/Vendor_Services/Accounting_Information/Electronic_Fun
ds_Transfer/default.shtml. Attach either a voided check or a letter from your bank containing the
account related information. Mail the form and documentation to:
State of Maryland
Comptroller of Maryland, ACH Registration
General Accounting Division, Room 205
P.O. Box 746
Annapolis, Maryland 21404-0746
4.
WHY DO I NEED TO ATTACH A VOIDED CHECK?
A voided check provides the information needed to ensure that your direct deposit is sent to the
correct account at your financial institution.
5.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL SOFTWARE TO RECEIVE DIRECT DEPOSIT
PAYMENTS?
No. All you need is a valid account at any United States bank, credit union or other financial
institution that participates in direct deposit.
6.
IS MY INFORMATION SECURE?
Yes. The Comptroller’s Office has only a few designated staff that have access to update or view
vendor information.
7.
ARE MY PAYMENTS GOING TO BE PROCESSED ON THE SAME SCHEDULE AS
THEY WERE BEFORE DIRECT DEPOSIT/ACH?
Yes.
8.
HOW QUICKLY WILL A PAYMENT BE DEPOSITED INTO MY ACCOUNT?
Payments are deposited three business days after the payment has been successfully processed
through the State’s accounting system, excluding weekends and state/federal holidays.
9.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN THE PAYMENT IS IN MY BANK ACCOUNT?
You may contact your bank directly or use online banking, mobile applications, and regular bank
statements to confirm the deposit.
10.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT THE PAYMENT IS FOR?
All payment information is transferred electronically to your bank account. Comptroller’s GAD
Online Service Center is a service that allows you, as a payee/vendor, to view your financial
transactions with the State of Maryland. The Online Service Center can be accessed on the web
at https://interactive.marylandtaxes.com/extranet/gad/GADLogin/user/AppSelect.asp. Direct
deposits may reflect several invoices, but the Online Service Center provides information about
each and every payment. If you are still not sure after looking online, call the originating agency
at the telephone number provided in the Online Service Center.
11.
WHAT IF THERE IS A DISCREPANCY IN THE AMOUNT WE REQUESTED AND
THE AMOUNT WE RECEIVED?
Please contact your agency representative.
12.
CAN DIRECT DEPOSITS BE CREDITED TO THE WRONG ACCOUNT?
It is the vendor’s responsibility to submit accurate banking to the State of Maryland. The State of
Maryland will not be able to ascertain if the vendor has supplied information for the wrong bank
account.
13.
DO I NEED TO SEND SEPARATE DIRECT DEPOSIT ENROLLMENT FORMS FOR
EACH AGENCY WITH WHICH I DO BUSINESS?
No. One enrollment form is sufficient.
14.
CAN I HAVE MORE THAN ONE BANK ACCOUNT?
The state allows only one record per entity/individual. Arrangements should be made with your
financial institution to transfer funds from the bank account you designate for direct deposits to
other accounts as necessary.
15.
WHAT MUST I DO IF I CHANGE MY BANK OR MY ACCOUNT NUMBER?
It is important that you do not close the account that is linked to your direct deposits until the new
account has been established and payments are being credited to your new account. When the
change is complete, you may then close the old account. Please follow the procedure in question
3 for form location and submission information.
16.
CAN I CANCEL MY DIRECT DEPOSIT ENROLLMENT?
Yes, visit https://interactive.marylandtaxes.com/extranet/gad/GADLogin/user/AppSelect.asp and
please select the box marked cancellation on the GAD form X-10 located
http://comptroller.marylandtaxes.com/Vendor_Services/Accounting_Information/Electronic_Fun
ds_Transfer/default.shtml and send to the Comptroller.
17.
AM I REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?
Vendors who have a contract with a value greater than $200,000 must receive contract payments
electronically (ACH) (See BPW Advisory 2003-3 EFT Contractor Payments).
For all other vendors, although the Comptroller’s Office is encouraging participation, direct
deposit is voluntary. We believe that the benefits of direct deposit (eliminating check handling
and delays, plus strengthened internal controls and improved cash management opportunities) are
significant. If you do not participate in direct deposit, checks will be printed and mailed as they
are now and payment notification will remain unchanged.
18.
WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS?
You can contact the Vendor Table Coordinators by e-mail at GAD@comp.state.md.us or by
phone at 410.260.7375 or toll free at 888-784-0144.
