FORMATION DAY FOR RCIA CATECHISTS – on Saturday 3rd October from 10am
to 3pm at St. Columba’s parish centre, Chester CH2 1SA. Topics include RCIA and
Canon Law led by Deacon Philip White and Introducing others to Prayer led by
Miss Barbara Davies. The course costs £5 per person, tea and coffee provided ,
please bring your own packed lunch.
CATHOLIC CERTIFICATE OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES (CCRS) – is a basic course in
theology, designed for people who are engaged in the communication of their
Catholic Faith whether directly or indirectly. It is open to all. You can complete
the Certificate or just attend the sessions. The course starts with the Old
Testament module and is at Our Lady’s Ellesmere Port on Saturday 10th October
and Saturday 7th November from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Contact Rowena Nield at

Chair of the National Catholic Safeguarding Commission (NCSC) The Catholic
Bishops Conference of England and Wales are seeking to appoint a new chair for
the NCSC following the stepping down of the current chair. See notice at back of

COFFEE today is served after the 11.15 Mass by the SVP; next week Jane/Sandra.
RACE NIGHT – the race night raised £697.60, many thanks to all who took part.
Of the money raised £297.28 was credited to the Third World project bringing
this to £1000, this will go to Kerala for the education of a priest. The remainder
will be used to improve facilities in our parish centre.
ST CATHERINE’S INTERNATIONAL MASS will take place on Wednesday 23rd
September at 7.00pm. A wonderful celebratory Mass in the past, we invite all
parishioners and friends to participate in this Mass: how many nations can we
represent? Please contact Fr Thomas or John Fegan to contribute in unique and
different ways through music and liturgy. Light refreshments in the hall
afterwards.
CLERGY EDUCATION & TRAINING FUND SPECIAL COLLECTION – So much of the
future of our diocese depends on the training and education of the next
generation of priests. There will be a special collection next Sunday in support of
this fund. Envelopes are available for you to Gift Aid your donation.
CaFÉ CATHERINE restarts on Friday October 2nd at 8pm in the parish hall.
PARENTS & TOTS every Friday in the parish hall from 1:30 to 3pm.
LOURDES 2016 Registration – Young people from this area who would like travel
to Lourdes next year from 26th July to 3rd August to work with the sick and
elderly are invited to a meeting on Sunday 4th October, 2015 at 6.15pm in St.
Agnes parish room. Parents are asked to accompany youth to this registration
meeting as it is important that youth are fully supported by their families.
SHOE BOX APPEAL – we are starting our shoe box appeal for St Anselm’s mission
in Sierra Leone. Please leave good clean empty shoe boxes at the back of church.
Thank you. Last year we packed 110 boxes.

encouraged to pray for the work of evangelisation in England and Wales,

CARITAS ROADSHOW, ‘BEING A CHURCH FOR THE POOR’ on Saturday 26th
September from 10am to 3:30pm at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School,
CH65 7AQ. Speakers include Bishop Mark Davies and Helen O’Brien. There will
be workshops on Foodbanks, Women in Poverty, the SVP and the Olive Branch –
an organisation supporting those affected by drug addiction. Tea and coffee
