SSPD officers received a “thank you” card from a Stallion Springs citizen for assisting a
family member while they were stranded due to a broken down vehicle
SSPD Sergeant Gary Crowell received a thank you in the form of a news article, commending
him for his actions during a call in Stallion Springs of a suspicious vehicle. He was
commended for his tactics, professionalism, and quick response
SSPD officers received a “thank you” note for their actions during a loose dog call
SSPD is investigating a residential burglary in Stallion Springs which took place during midJuly. Officers have recovered some of the stolen items and the investigation is ongoing
A bicycle was reported stolen from Camp Woodward West. Officers learned that the owner
failed to secure he bicycle as instructed and the bicycle was stolen from the property. The
investigation is ongoing
While on patrol, an SSPD officer observed a subject driving recklessly. During the
investigation, the officer discovered that the driver of the vehicle was an elderly female who
may have been having difficulty with the operation of her vehicle. The officer submitted her
information to the DMV for a re-examination
While off-duty, an SSPD officer was called out for a suicidal female armed with a possible
knife locked in a restroom. The officer responded, and after approximately 10 minutes,
convinced the adult female to exit the restroom. The female made suicidal statements and
the officer observed cut marks to her arms. The female was transported to the Tehachapi
Hospital for treatment and then to a mental evaluation facility in Bakersfield

Stallion Springs citizens continue to report “Demand for Payment” phone scams from
unknown subjects. In these scams subjects posing as IRS agents or U.S. Marshalls state that
the victim owes the government money for a variety of reasons and if not paid immediately,
they will be responding to the victim’s house with an arrest warrant. The SSPD advises its
citizens to ignore these types of telephone calls, inform your phone company, and report
these incidents via email at: www.mysscsd.com (police page).
SSPD officers were called to the scene of a traffic collision on St. Andrews. It was
determined that the driver of one of the two vehicles made an unsafe left hand turn,
causing the traffic collision
SSPD officers responded to a call of a loose, viscous dog. Officers located the dog, returned
it to the owner’s home, and cited the owner. The owner had been warned in the past
regarding this issue
SSPD officers settled several neighbor disputes and kept the peace during disturbance calls
in Stallion Springs
SSPD officers responded to several barking dog complaints in Stallion Springs. Officers
offered barking reduction advice to the dog owners and issued warning citations
On two separate occasions, SSPD officers settled an aggressive dog complaint at Man O’
War Park
SSPD officers issued numerous cellular telephone use-while-driving warnings
In regards to questions about fox depredation:
California Fish & Wildlife states that it is illegal to depredate foxes for any reason in
California. Additionally, they advised that it is permissible to depredate coyotes if you are
150 yards away from any structure, you have written permission from the owner of any
structure that you are within 150 yards of, you possess a valid and current hunting license,
you obey all CA Fish and Wildlife regulations, CA penal codes and Kern County Municipal
Codes. There is not limit and no season
During a traffic stop investigation for traffic violations, an SSPD officer discovered an open
container of beer in the vehicle. After performing a field sobriety check, the officer
determined that the driver was not intoxicated. The subject was cited and released. Many
citizens had stated afterwards, that they had observed the same subject consuming alcohol
in his vehicle for years, but never reported it
An off-duty officer was called out for a report of an intoxicated subject trespassing and
“terrorizing” his adult sister. The officer responded and contacted the obviously highly
intoxicated subject who did not respond to commands. A KCSO unit responded and assisted
the SSPD officer in detaining the subject without incident. Officers advised the adult female
to seek a restraining order which she then did
SSPD officers conducted tactical firearms training
SSPD officers continued to discover residents leaving vehicles and garages unsecure. SSPD
urges all citizens to reduce the opportunity for theft to occur by securing your vehicles and
garages when not in use
Sergeant Gary Crowell successfully completed prison gang training online training. This
training was free to the department
