ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES WINDING CREEK ELEMENTARY MORNING ARRIVAL PROCEDURES Students are not allowed to arrive at school before 8:00 a.m. Teachers/Teacher Assistants are not on duty until 8:00 a.m. There are no staff members to supervise students before 8:00 a.m. Car riders are to be dropped off in the south parking lot. School personnel will be on duty at 8:00 a.m. to escort students across the parking lot to the school. Bus and Daycare riders will be dropped off in the drive-through lane closest to the school. Walkers and bike riders must cross 12th street at the light. This is the only crosswalk location for Winding Creek, and a crossing guard will escort students across the street. Classroom doors open at 8:10 a.m. for students. All students arriving at school before 8:10 a.m. must sit in their designated grade-level zones until time to go into their classroom. School personnel will supervise all grade-level zones during morning arrival. The Cafeteria opens at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast. Classes begin at 8:25 a.m. Students eating breakfast at school need to be in the Cafeteria by 8:15 a.m. in order to have time to eat and get to class on time. Classes begin at 8:25 a.m. Do not drop off students on the street between the school and the park. There is no crosswalk or crossing guard on this street to escort students to the school property. AFTERNOON DISMISSAL PROCEDURES All car riders will walk quietly to the east side of the gym for car dismissal. For the safety of our students and school personnel, please do not park on the east side of the street between the school and the park for student pickup. Adults picking up students in a vehicle need to stay in the car line (facing south) next to the school property. Walking across the street between the school and the park is not safe, and there is no crosswalk or crossing guard to stop the two-way traffic. Students will be loaded into cars by school personnel from the curb at the gym. All Bus and Daycare students will report to the front of the school for dismissal. The drive-through lane closest to the front of the school is for buses and licensed daycares only. All daycare providers using the drive-through lane must have the name of the daycare clearly visible on the side of the vehicle or in the front windshield area. Walkers and bike riders will be released by the bell at 3:07 p.m. Students needing to pick up younger siblings need to go directly to that classroom after school. For the safety of our students, Teachers/Teacher Assistants will monitor the dismissal of the walkers. Camp Wildcat students need to walk directly to the cafeteria after being dismissed from class. To eliminate anxiety of our younger students, please make sure older siblings know where to go to meet their younger siblings. IMPORTANT: If the dismissal of your child changes from the regular routine, please write a note (not an email) to the teacher or contact the office by telephone before 2:30 p.m. All students must be picked up from school no later than 3:30 p.m. There is no one to monitor or supervise students after this time. Students who have not been picked up by 3:30 p.m. will be placed in Camp Wildcat for aftercare services, and the parent/guardian will be billed the current hourly rate for daycare. In the case of inclement weather, students will line up inside the gym during afternoon car dismissal. Bike riders and scooter riders must walk their bikes and scooters while on the school property at all times.
