Dear Glenbrook Families,
This letter is to inform you of some of the new changes we are hoping to make to capitalize on the new
parking lot construction that took place this summer.
Student arrival will largely stay the same with bus students using Green Bay Street (playground).
Walkers, bikers, and some car riders will use Front Street (PACE). All other car riders will use the new
entrance to the parking lot, where they will be able to drop students off on the sidewalk by door #3 (old
annex). Again, as a reminder we will have staff on hand to supervise at 7:20 for all of these locations.
Students eating breakfast will be allowed to enter the school right away and head to the cafeteria. On
inclement weather days (rainy, below 0 temps, etc.), we will always bring our students in to designated
supervised areas regardless of drop off point.
Dismissal will be our biggest change and challenge this year and we are asking for your help in being
patient and understanding with this new process. Bus students will dismiss as usual (playground) as will
walkers and bikers (PACE). The new PACE lot does not extend into the Glenbrook lot which will also
eliminate cross traffic and be much safer. Our plan is to escort our car riders curbside right to you,
eliminating the need for parents to take little ones out of car seats and keeping everyone from having to
weave through a parking lot resulting in a much safer and hopefully more convenient process.
Car riders will be gathered into our auxiliary gym as normal. When all grade levels have arrived, we
will escort students by grade level to designated areas on the sidewalk. (ex. K will have a spot, 1st grade
will have a spot, etc.). Parents will then pull up curbside and students can enter passenger side from the
sidewalk. Once a parent has their children they can then utilize the left hand passing lane in the lot to
exit eliminating the need to follow the rest of traffic all the way around to the exit which will also have 2
turning lanes including a right only lane and a left only lane. Again, we know this is a BIG change but
we truly feel this will result in a MUCH safer dismissal process for our students. All of you have been
great in the past while we made some minor changes and we are hoping that we can once again count on
your support and patience while we work to put this new procedure in place for our students. (We have
also included a map with some notes for you on the reverse side to help provide further insight).
If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me at @ (920) 822-6100.
Sincerely,
