Opportunities available include work with recovery program/groups, community center socializing, serving lunch, art projects, computer skills, hope and justice program (food stamps for seniors, creative writing group, arts program, etc.). From 3:00 p.m. on, shelter is open providing other opportunities for work (i.e. 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. shelter group wellness program meets). Evening activities available but not expected for intern include playing board games, reading, poetry, or making presentations or teaching Pre-school: assisting teachers with 3-5 year olds. Kindergarten readiness, play experiences, circle reading, snacks/lunch, family support 1. ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF COURSE $100.00 for course fee. The Fire Department is located around corner from St. Mary’s Center, there are CPR trained people on-site, and location is close to Summit Hospital. Since St. Mary’s is located in downtown Oakland, it’s best not to walk to and from public transportation at night. BART is located ¾ mile away. Transportation by car is not a problem day or night. 6. COURSE WORKLOAD: Requirements as listed on the syllabus Includes four required 2-hour seminars and possible additional meeting for further information on this particular location. 8. BEHAVIOURAL EXPECTATIONS Students must: No tank tops or revealing clothing. Jeans, sweatshirts are fine. No accepting gifts from people. No alcohol, drugs on person. No flirting. Must report any concerns/violations because drug free, smoke free environment. No violence, profanity, racial slurs. Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.
