Mary’s Shelter Gulf Coast - OUR ATTITUDES
As residents of Mary’s Shelter, we will seek to maintain the following attitudes with
other residents and staff during our stay here.

o In everything I do and say
3. Responsibility
o It is what I do, not what someone else does.
o It is what I say, not what someone else says.
o It is my choice, not someone else’s choice.
o I control my thoughts, my words, and my actions.
o I am responsible.
4. Understanding and acceptance
o Every person needs to be understood and accepted as God’s creation.
o Sometimes the things people do are wrong and not acceptable.
5. Cooperation and Team Work
o Everyone must work as a team for the home to function properly.
6. Thoughtfulness
o Be thoughtful of each other in word and deed.
7. Love and Commitment
o Practice love toward God, others, and self.
o Be committed to making home a pleasant place (Clean, safe, joyful, fun, restful,
peaceful, etc.)
8. Meaningful Communication
o Find out what a person means – this is not necessarily what we think they mean
from the words they said or actions perceived...
o Listen
9. Right to be heard
o What each person has to say is important.
10. Willingness to accept guidance and instructions
o We must be willing to receive guidance and instructions and make any changes
necessary for our own good and the good of our family and our home.
