Message to Parents about Iowa Assessments This year, Seminole County students in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grade will be administered the Iowa Assessments, Form E/F, in the fall and in the spring. This battery of subtests measures student skills in several important content areas, including Vocabulary, Word Analysis, Reading, Listening, Language, Mathematics, Computation, and Science. The subtests that your student will take depend on his or her grade level. Seminole County Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring that students receive rigorous high quality instruction that results in the academic growth of each student. The results of the Iowa Assessments will provide a measure of each student’s strengths and areas of growth. Teachers will utilize this data to guide instructional decisions that best support students’ learning. Additionally, Iowa Assessment results will show parents how their student is performing in comparison to other students at the same grade level nationally. The fall administration will take place within the regular classroom or test accommodation setting from Tuesday, October 20 through Wednesday, October 28. Parents will be provided score reports about four weeks after tests are completed. These scores will indicate how your student performed on the test compared with students across the nation in the same grade. An informational letter and Frequently Asked Questions document containing more information about the Iowa Assessments will be provided to your student prior to testing. If you have additional questions after reading these documents, please contact Jeff, Fose, test coordinator.
