The Operations Engineering department at LMUK Ampthill Is part of Operations function which encompasses Facilities, Production Operations, Production Planning and Material Control. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to work within the Operations Engineering Department leading manufacturing/production engineering activities for Electro-Mechanical Sub Assemblies across multiple Programmes. Specific Job Description: The successful Engineer will have a proven track record and be the lead for; Leading the manufacturing strategy and development of manufacturing processes for Electro-Mechanical Sub Assemblies manufactured at LMUK Ampthill Creation of process documentation including Standard Operator Procedures (SoP) for use within a production environment Creation of Material Masters and defining the Bills of Materials and routings Identifying any new tooling & fixturing requirements Managing any Change Requests through to embodiment. Supporting the Production teams with any technical issues, new processes and equipment to ensure requirements are met. Developing solutions, including conducting root cause analysis, to a variety of complex Manufacturing problems. Lead the implementation for any improvements to the Manufacturing processes Supporting Design and Quality activities and other team members where required Ensuring compliance to standards and regulations are adhered to Leading, through visual management and key performance indicators, delivery of the manufacturing engineering service level agreements Required Skills: Proven experience within a similar Manufacturing/Production role including experience within Design programmes where manufacture has run concurrently. Excellent knowledge of Manufacturing methodologies and technologies including; Cable Harness Manufacture Electro-Mechanical Box Assembly Excellent IT skills including experience with SAP Excellent communication skills Use of Six Sigma/Process improvement techniques Desired Skills: Experience in the training / development of Manufacturing Engineers Experience in constructing manufacturing estimates Standard Job Description: Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
