Morningside Elementary Community Council Minutes
October 10, 2014, meeting started at 1:50 pm.
In attendance were Tod Cracroft, Chris Betcher, Sonia Aoki, Emeliee Dirks, Karianne
Prince, Laurie Peterson, Shannon Fischio and Stephanie Buehner.
Mr. Cracroft welcomed the group and the new members of the Community Council,
he said the CC election went well and ended up with a total of 48 votes.
Shannon Fischio motioned to approve the prior months CC minutes and Emeliee
Dirks 2nd the motioned.
We discussed having the CC write up an official request to the District to request and
give our support of hiring additional office/administrative staff.
We are spending money on Americore-Star Reading, which is a very effective
program and we have seen a lot of success from this program, however, we do need
more volunteers.
A 29-hour aide has been hired with our Land Trust money and will start within the
next week.
Since there are 698 students enrolled at Morningside this year we have been given a
½ FTE teacher or a 29-hour aide from the district. A 29-hour aide has been hired.
The Board of Education has determined the Community Council members will now
have a vote on the schools staffing plan, which will be presented by Mr. Cracoft and
will be based on projected enrollment numbers.
Officers for the Morningside CC were elected. Emeliee Dirks motioned to nominate
Karianne Prince as Chair Person, all members agreed.
Emeliee Dirks motioned to nominate Laurie Peterson as Co-Chair, all members
agreed.
A motion to rotate the Secretary position was made and all agreed.
Mr. Cracroft will email his Achievement Plan to all CC members for approval, before
the end of October 2014.
Shannon Fischio brought up that at the PTA Convention they discussed what to do if
an elected member of the CC doesn’t show up. The CC decided that if a member of
the CC does not show up for 3 consecutive meetings they will be dismissed from the
CC and the CC will appoint a new member to take their place. Shannon Fischio
motioned to approve and Chris Betcher 2nd the motion.
Mr. Cracroft advised that all teachers at Morningside were given Mini-Ipads at the
beginning of this school year.

The next CC meeting is scheduled for Friday, November 14th at 1:45pm.
