Free Community Recycling Fun Day at Cross Lane
Park
A recycling themed fun day is to be held at Cross Lane Park, Partington, on the
11th August 2014 between 11am and 2pm.
The event has been organised by Recycle for Greater Manchester’s Up and Forward
Team and local residents. The event is part of an EU Life+ funded project to
increase recycling in the area by encouraging and educating the community to
waste less and recycle more.
The Recycling Fun Day is for all the family, there will be plenty of activities and
games on the day including face-painting, recycling challenges such as ‘Beat the
Bin Men’ and refreshments. There will also be stalls from local community groups
promoting re-use and recycling.
Over the last few weeks the Up and Forward team have been visiting local
community groups to understand what issues residents are facing around recycling.
Clare Fallon, Up and Forward Campaign Officer said: “We have had a great
response from the local community with our call to action. Everyone we have
spoken to have been really behind the event and eager to get involved. We are
always looking for more residents to help organise the event or to speak to us
about any recycling issues.”
To get involved in the event or if you are interested in volunteering, please

Notes to Editors
The Up & Forward project looks at ways of encouraging residents to waste less
and recycle more in currently hard to reach communities. The aim is to carry out a
project that will demonstrate how improved communication and engagement can
increase waste prevention and recycling in low performing urban areas.
The Up and Forward project is funded by the European Union EU funding stream
Life +. LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental and nature
