The teacher will locate pictures and/or realia to illustrate the part of speech being taught. Prepare word cards. The student will orally repeat the indicated part of speech and definition. Present the definition of the part of speech. Show examples. Ask student to repeat. Student repeats the definition. Monitor that all participate and use the complete sentence. The student will gesture the indicated part of speech. Show gestures to illustrate the part of speech. Ask students to repeat. Students repeat the definition orally and with gestures. Monitor that all participate and use the complete sentence. Students will repeat a sentence frame chorally and with a partner explaining why a word is an example of the part of speech. Show examples of the part of speech with realia or pictures. Use this frame: _______ is a (part of speech) because __________. Student will repeat the frame chorally and with a partner. Monitor that all participate in using the frame. Have students repeat chorally and with a partner. Give students pictures or realia with word cards and ask them to work with the partner to apply the frame above with the material provided. Ask each student to choose a picture or object and orally complete the frame, prior to posting the picture with the word card on the grammar wall. Student will use the picture or object provided to complete the frame orally to a partner. Student will use the picture or object provided to complete the frame orally to the class, color code with marker around the word card and post on the grammar wall. Listen in on the partner talk for the use of the frame and justification. Student will use the frame correctly.
