Minutes SSCS Governing Board Meeting Monday, August 31, 2015 7:30 pm 1 CALL TO ORDER President Jolie Hauck called the meeting to order at 7:37 pm. 2 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3 INTRODUCTIONS/WELCOME/ROLL CALL Corporate Officers present: Cyndi Rachel, IEM Director of Education Support Services, Jolie Hauck, Parent Council president, Brenda Christensen, Parent Council Secretary. The following four Governing Board members were present: Shandi Virnoche, Nancy Olivares-Pinelo, Jane Ternavsky, and Harold Davies. 4 HEARING OF THE PUBLIC Members of the public may be heard on any item. A person addressing the Council will be limited to 3 minutes, unless the Site Administrator grants a longer period of time. Comments by members of the public on an item on the agenda will only be allowed during consideration of the item by the Council. No one addressed the council at that time. 5 ACTION ITEMS 1) Approval of May 11, 2015 minutes Jane Ternavsky moved to approve the May 11, 2015 minutes. Shandi Virnoche seconded the motion. Roll Call was taken; approval of the May 11, 2015 minutes passed by a majority of 4 votes to none with 0 abstentions. 2) Complaint Resolution Policy Nancy Olivares-Pinelo moved to approve the Complaint Resolution Policy. Shandi Virnoche seconded the motion. Roll Call was taken; approval for the Complaint Resolution Policy passed by a majority of 4 votes to none with 0 abstentions. 3) Approval of Education Protection Account for 14/15 and 15/16 school years Proposition 30, The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012, approved by the voters on November 6, 2012, temporarily increases the state’s sales tax rate for all taxpayers and the personal income tax rates for upper- income taxpayers. The new revenues generated from Proposition 30 are deposited into a newly created state account called the Education Protection Account (EPA). South Sutter Charter School Education Protection Account (EPA) 2015/16 EPA $2,869,237 2014/15 EPA $2,499,607 Expenditures are budgeted for Student Instructional Funds Shandi Virnoche moved to approve the Education Protection Account for 14/15 and 15/16 school years. Jane Ternavsky seconded the motion. Roll Call was taken; approval for the Education Protection Account for 14/15 and 15/16 school years passed by a majority of 4 votes to none with 0 abstentions. 4) South Sutter Charter School board approve disposal list pursuant to Education Code 6051060511. Nancy Olivares-Pinelo moved to approve the sale or donation of obsolete items. Shandi Virnoche seconded the motion. Roll call was taken; Approval for the donation or sale of obsolete materials passed by a majority of 4 votes to none with 0 abstentions. 6 FUTURE MEETING AGENDA ITEMS Several members agreed Monday was not the best night to meet. Cyndi suggested monthly meetings were needed to approve the sale or donation of obsolete items for The Garage. 7 ADJOURN The meeting was officially adjourned at 7:56 pm
