West Fork Community School District Board Minutes
Official Proceedings – October 19, 2015 – Unapproved
The West Fork Board of Education met for its regular meeting in the Superintendent’s Office
in Sheffield. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by Board President, Jim Tuttle. Board
members present: Mary Schlichting, Mary Beth Sukup, Rob Heimbuch. Absent: Roger Witte.
Also present were Superintendent Darrin Strike, High School Principal Randy Bushbaum,
Middle School Principal Tracy Peterson and West Fork Board Secretary Lacey Weier.
Visitors: Kelly McGowan
Superintendent Strike requested to add an agenda item #11 – Discuss/Approve Lease updates
with the City of Sheffield for the Football Field. Schlichting requested to add an agenda item #12
– Discuss Early Retirement. After discussion, Heimbuch moved to approve the Agenda with
the additions, Minutes from September 21st, bills from October, August and September
Financial Statements; seconded by Sukup. Motion carried 4-0.
After discussion, Heimbuch moved to approve the Open Enrollment Requests as presented;
seconded by Schlichting. Motion carried 4-0.
Heimbuch moved to approve a contract to Sadie Wyborny to serve as an Elementary Para
Educator at the Sheffield Campus; seconded by Sukup. Motion carried 4-0.
Schlichting moved to approve a contract to Mary Schulz to serve for one year as the J/JV Girls
Basketball Coach for the 2015-2016 season; seconded by Sukup. Motion carried 4-0.
Superintendent Strike updated the board on the building progress of the Wellness Center.
Sukup moved to approve the Financial Bidding Timeline as presented by Piper Jaffrey; seconded
by Schlichting. Motion carried 4-0.
Heimbuch moved to approve the bidding Documents for Financing of the Wellness Center;
seconded by Sukup. Motion carried 4-0.
Mark Twedt, Clay Emhoff, Brandon Emhoff and Rylan Fleshner shared information with the
board about the STEM program and what they have been working on in HS Biology.
Superintendent Strike shared information with the board about the Tax Levy Reduction
Adjustment.
After discussion, Sukup moved to approve the change in the lease with the City of Sheffield to
include that the school carry liability insurance on the football field; seconded by Schlichting.
Motion carried 4-0.
The board discussed the option of an Early Retirement package. At this time they feel there is not
a need for offering a package. They will look at the possibility again in the future.
