We are responsible, respectful, reflective, honest, thankful and we persevere. Newsletter – 9th October 2015 Dear Parents, This week has definitely seen the summer weather leaving us, may I just remind you that children need to have a pair of wellies and a waterproof coat in school. This means that we can continue to use our beautiful school grounds despite the less than beautiful conditions. I also need to ask that children whose hair is longer than shoulder length is tied back; that hair accessories are black, red or red and white gingham, and that children do not have braids. This maintains a smart appearance and also helps to stop the spread of head lice. Mrs Bishop would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent their warm wishes and gifts for baby Freddie. She really appreciates it and it just serves to remind her what a wonderful community we are part of at Belbroughton CE Primary School. Library Service and Library Van visit I would like to say a big thank you to the PTA and all those who have supported the events over the past months. We have quite a few things we are going to be able to do due to the incredible work and support we have from our parents. Firstly, we have been able to buy in the Library Service for Schools, which will allow us to have ‘book boxes’ to support the topics in class as well as sets of guided reading books and a visit from the Library Van. This will allow us to have a more varied range of books for the children to be able to access. Maths ‘Superhero’ Week The children have had a fantastic week doing different maths challenges. Thank you for all your support with the children’s costumes on Monday – they all looked amazing and so many different Superheroes! Teacher Education Day We have confirmed our final TE Day, which will be on Friday 27th May. National Maths Day – Following on from Maths week we are going to take part in the National Maths Day on Wednesday 14th October. The children should all have brought home a slip of paper with their logon codes and web address for them to practise the games at home. The challenge score will reset next week when the official day start but feel free to practise as much as you can. The children will log on in school time next week as a class to compete against each other and children from across the World to see who the best mathematician is! Children in Need We are one of a lucky few who have been chosen for a visit from Pudsey Bear. We are awaiting an exact date for his visit but in the meantime please could you start collecting pennies and two pence coins. These will form part of the challenge on the day or lead up to it. I will divulge the challenge just before half term.
