Waterford Borough Special Meeting November 4, 2013 A special meeting was held for the purpose of meeting with Erie County Recycling and Waste Management concerning recycling issues at the recycling site in the borough. The meeting was called to order by President William Strohmeyer at the Waterford Municipal Building at 5:30 P.M. Council Members Present: Gary Brown, Barry Pugh, Karen Molitor, Marian Burge, Jason Jack, William Strohmeyer, Eric Keiser. Visitors: Ken Thomas, Hazel Thomas, Doris Becker, Stephanie Cox, Mary Powell, Darlene Powell, Chris Kimmy, Kevin Gardener. Don Blakesley, of Erie County Recycling asked for solutions to prevent waste from being deposited to the bins. There is commercial use which is not permitted. Also, there is about 70% recyclables being deposited and 30% trash and non-recyclables. Suggestions: Signs: For Residential Use Only Different style of cans, change location of cans There needs to be a joint effort between townships surrounding the borough to educate the residents and commercial entities about recycling. Incentive based program is possibility offering discount for recycling to businesses Waterford Township could host recycling program. Public announcements need to be county wide. Fixing this problem will be an on-going process. Waste Management will submit price of curb side recycling for the borough. Meeting adjourned 6:30 P.M.
