CURRENT SYNOPTIC SITUATION: An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Lakshadweep and Maldives area and
extends upto 0.9 km above sea level. A trough of low pressure at mean sea level lies over Southeast Arabian sea and
adjoining Lakshadweep area. Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka
coast and extends upto 1.5 km above sea level.

Crop stage
It is the time for Mundakan paddy cultivation. Fertilizer application continued in rice, coconut, banana, arecanut,
ginger etc. It is the time for Nendran banana cultivation. This is the best time for planting cool season vegetables.

Advisories
There is a chance of Leaf folder. Open up the leaf folds with the help of a thorny
twig. Apply one of the following insecticides: quinalphos (2ml per liter of
water) or carbaryl (4g per liter of water).
Coconut log trap with fermenting toddy or pineapple can be set
in coconut plantation to attract and trap the free floating
population of red palm weevil. Incorporate any of the insecticide
to each trap to kill the weevils trapped.
Cut and remove all severely affected leaves. Put 50 g neem seed kernel
powder in leaf axils of 3-4 month old plant. For severe attack spray Sevin
@ 4 g in one liter of water or apply paste of 6g Sevin 50 WP in 1 kg clay on
pseudostem

Dig out the affected plants and drench the beds with 1% Bordeaux mixture.
Spray 15 g pseudomonas culture one liter of water.
Apply 2ml quinalphos in one liter of water to control aphids attack.
