WCA Student Champions General Information What is a Student Champion? A WCA Student Champion is an individual who is committed to being an agent of change in their community. Student Champions work with the WCA Outreach Team to build skills to help educate their peers and start conversations about healthy relationships within their communities. AMBASSADOR PROGRAM What are the qualifications? To be a Student Champion, individuals must have a passion for the WCA’s mission of safety, healing, and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. Student Champions should also believe in a future where all individuals understand what a healthy relationship is and have a desire to create change in their communities in an effort to realize this goal. Finally, Champions must be a junior high school, high school, or college student. What requirements must be met to become a Student Champion? Attend a Student Champion 101 meeting with Madeline, WCA Outreach Coordinator Schedule at least one Break the Cycle Presentation for a classroom, a school group, or a peer organization. How much time is required of a Student Champion? Time commitment can vary based on the individual but it will take on average 10 hours to become a Student Champion. From there, time commitment will be up to you! However, there will be monthly workshops and meetings hosted by the WCA to help Champions brainstorm methods and provide resources to help create change within their peer groups, schools, and larger communities.
