MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
1.1 To carry out day to day instructions for the catering facility, ensuring high quality standards of catering at Leuchie House within the allocated budget.
1.2 Contribute towards the Leuchie House friendly and pleasant atmosphere enjoyed by guests and visitors.
2 POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
2.1 Reports to: Catering Manager.
2.2 Supervision of General Assistants, plus Housekeepers when working in kitchen assistant role.
2.3 Effective co-operative relationships are required with guests, residents, relatives, visitors, staff, volunteers and any other agencies associated with Leuchie House.
3 SCOPE OF JOB:
3.1 To follow and perform catering and cooking duties as per Leuchie House guidelines.
3.2 Respect confidentiality in all areas relating to Leuchie House.
3.3 To perform all duties in compliance with Health & Safety standards.
3.4 To follow and abide by Leuchie House rules for the procurement of stock control.
3.5 Ensure all catering requirements are delivered to a high quality standard.
3.6 To follow and abide by the Leuchie House rules of guests and respecting their personal individual circumstances.
3.7 Any other duties that maybe required.
4 DECISION MAKING:
4.1 Adaptable and flexible with menu requirements to meet changing needs of guests and visitors.
4.3 Determine priorities of work schedule in relation to the day to day operation of Leuchie
House.
5 MAIN DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
5.1 Catering
5.1.1 Carry out procedures and practices effectively as per Leuchie House standards for the assessment of guests’ needs ensuring catering and nutritional plans are implemented and monitored.
5.1.2 Assist in planning varied and interesting menus to a high quality standard.
5.1.3 Provide specialised diets in consultation with guests, care and / or nursing staff.
5.1.4 Provide healthy meals and packed lunches taking into account portion control.
5.1.5 Proactively acquire knowledge on nutrition and food related issues.

5.2 Stock Control & Administration
5.2.1 Order food in the absence of Catering Manager in compliance with budgetary guidelines and restrictions.
5.2.2 Ensure adequate stock control and rotation is maintained at all times.
5.2.3 Ensure record-keeping and documentation procedures are followed in line with statutory requirements.
6 HEALTH & SAFETY:
6.1 All work duties to be performed and delivered following Leuchie House Health & Safety practices and in compliance with emergency, hygiene, and COSHH procedures.
6.2 Ensure food hygiene in compliance with Food Hygiene regulations and legislative requirements.
6.3 To monitor the correct and safe temperature of all fridges and freezers daily and stock expiry dates and rotation in compliance with Cooksafe legislative requirements.
6.4 Report any accidents, incidents or hazards as outlined in Leuchie House procedures.
7 OTHER:
7.1 Participate in staff meetings, staff performance reviews and staff training as required to promote own development and understanding
7.2 Maintain notes and stock records as maybe required.
7.3 Be flexible in working hours to provide cover for holiday and absence.
7.4 Participate in mandatory training as per Leuchie House policies and practices.
7.5 Leuchie House is a developing environment and the post holder will therefore be expected to undertake other appropriate duties as required.
7.6 Work to promote equality, independence and freedom of choice for guests, visitors, residents and anyone associated with Leuchie House by respecting privacy and personal dignity.
8 PERSON SPECIFICATION:
8.1 Qualifications
8.1.1 Elementary food hygiene certificate.
8.1.2 Minimum education including English and Mathematics
8.2 Knowledge and Experience
8.2.1 Good standard of general education with experience working in a catering environment.
8.2.2 Experience of working within a customer focused environment
8.2.3 Strong appreciation of confidentiality.
8.3 Skills
8.3.1 Literacy and numeracy essential - The ability to use basic mathematics combined with having neat hand written skills.
8.3.2 Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to change and work under pressure.

8.3.3 Good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with a variety of contacts
