Earl K. Long Library Institutional Effectiveness Plan 2012-2013 Goal 1 Provide relevant core and in-depth collections that support the learning, teaching, and research needs of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty, especially for designated academic programs of excellence, graduate programs, and for new degree programs. Objective 1.1 Adapt and develop collections to reflect the University’s evolving curricular emphases, research priorities, and financial realities. Strategies: 1.1.1 1.1.2 1.1.3 Conduct a thorough review of usage and spending on serials and Interlibrary Loan to identify most needed resources. Library liaisons meet with chairs to discuss discipline-specific needs and resources and prioritize library spending in the face of expected budget shortfalls for the coming year. Work with faculty to identify in-house and Special Collections content of high pedagogical/research value to be digitized. Objective 1.2 Recognize, evaluate, and, as appropriate, adopt and promote new developments in scholarly communication that benefit our students and faculty. Strategies: 1.2.1 Increase the variety and quantity of content in Scholarworks 1.2.2 Expand Open Access Week activities 1.2.3. Collaborate with ORSP to document and promote support for data management plans on campus 1.2.4 Develop policy and procedures for journal hosting in ScholarWorks, in conjunction with Senate Committee on the Library, and share with the rest of the campus 1.2.5 Provide demonstrations on SelectedWorks and ScholarWorks to faculty groups 1.2.6 Provide opportunities for faculty to learn more about general scholarly communications issues such as Author’s Rights Assessment Tools: Collection evaluation documents Reports of liaison meetings with chairs ScholarWorks statistics Statistics on digital collections (created, added, usage) Record of scholarly communication outreach efforts
