1 Supplementary data: Complications summary Death 7 Death on anesthesia induction- prior to incision 11 Death on first incision or organ retraction- prior to lymphatic dissection Skin laceration 2 Out of surgical site- resolved Tail degloving 1 Due to poor maintenance manipulation Table 4- Complication summary. All complication occurred prior to the lymphatic manipulation (TDN). Detailed description: *All deaths occurred prior to surgery and lymphatic manipulation and shortly after anesthesia. We attributed these deaths to the anesthesia/ mechanical pressure of retracting elements. These animals could not be identified as either one of the study groups and were excluded from the final results. * Two animals suffered skin laceration located out of the surgical incision which spontaneously resolved (both on ‘Surgery’ group). As the laceration was located out of the incision site it was not regarded as surgical complication. * One animal suffered tail degloving due to poor maintenance manipulation (unknown group). It was not regarded as surgical complication
