Skagit Animals in Need Meeting Minutes April 2, 2015 Bob’s Burgers, Burlington, WA Board Members o Present: Emily, Gretchen, Matt, Shane, Laura, Julie, Patty o Absent: None o Quorum: Yes Guests o None Proceedings o The meeting was called to order at 8:10 am Financial Report o Corporate donations are continuing recent gift from fidelity charitable in the amount of $500 o Polar plunge $28 from donation bucket. The remainder raised from the event has not been disclosed o Financial report was reviewed and approved by unanimous decision Horse Health Update o All horses doing fairly well o Jax – needs teeth floated o Additional floats: Dallas, Hotshot, Mia, Whiskey, Daphne, Kody, Ky, Stella, TJ It was decided that floats would be completed after the tack sale o Cryptorchid surgery for Whiskey need quote before it is scheduled Should still get 20% discount Estimate $1300-1500 o Daphne: lame on the left front She had approximately 4 sole abscesses when she arrived Will be placed on bute 1 gram PO BID-SID PRN Volunteer Update o For daily volunteers need to have a clear line between the care of SAIN horses and personal horses As such, Daphne is getting daily attention from one of our volunteers o New volunteer form Preferred contact method is email or group text Changes: add references (at least 1 animal related) Website Update o Still needed for website: financials for 2014, minutes o Resources for struggling horse owners? o Education page forthcoming Old Business o Bony Pony tack sale – Saturday April 18th 10-4 We are ok to have several horses at the tack sale Panels will be picked up by Matt, bring canopy as well Horses: Dolly and TJ will be at the sale Set-up start at 9 The new banner that has been designed was approved for purchase. This banner will draw attention to adoptable horses. Will need the cash box and receipts o SAIN tack sale Raffle items: donations are coming in Need updated list by April 10th New Business o State registration has been renewed by Laura o Insurance Local agent has extended an offer of insurance that would cover all volunteers Need to figure out what “volunteers” means A meeting to clarify questions has been set for Monday April 6 at 10:50am. Several board members will try to attend. o Parades The risks vs. benefits of having horses involved with local parades was discussed At this time the board has decided that the risk outweighs the benefits.
