Volunteer Advice and Expectations Arrive 15 minutes prior to the session in order to help groom and tack the horses Wear appropriate clothing for the weather: o bring sunglasses and a hat for warm weather o gloves, hats, and jackets as needed in cold weather Rubber boots or sturdy work boots are highly recommended, there is always mud at the barn No cell phones are allowed during sessions Bring Water to hydrate in between sessions Interact with the client as directed by the therapist, DO NOT instruct client unless asked to do so Keep conversation between volunteers to a minimum unless client is included in conversation. Bring a positive attitude, you will be working with kids Remember you will be working with horses o Treat the horses with care and compassion o Make sure you are not allergic to horses Make sure kids have fun!
