Miss Barr : Lang. Arts Homework and Procedures
Homework for Lang. Arts will be stored in the purple 2 pocket, 3
prong folder marked “Lang. Arts Home and School Folder”. Each night you
will be asked to read and summarize a book or part of a book and study a
set of vocabulary cards for each week, Monday – Thursday. A recording
sheet for the Reading Log is in the 3 prong section, and a recording sheet
for the vocabulary will be stored in the left pocket of the folder. On some
days we may get the homework done in class, in this case the teacher will
sign the homework slip completed in class. Five homework points will be
earned for each activity with a total of 10 pts. possible each week. Parent
signatures for each day as recorded on the homework slips will earn the
students all of the points. Summary sentences and parent signature will
earn the students all of the points. I have listed a website you can visit to
practice more vocabulary if you have extra time on the homework slip.
Inside the homework folder will be graded classwork (you can review or
go over at home each night), and several days before the test, a study
guide will also appear in the folder. Please do not remove any items from
the folder until the test is taken. As you find time, review with the student
what we are working on in class by looking at the work in the folder.
When the test is completed, the study guide and review pages will be
stapled together and sent home in Miss Barr’s red trapper folder on the
“Take Home” side. The home and school folder should be brought back
and forth to school each day so that we can continue to add work samples
to the folder until the day of the test. The testing day will be written on
the study guide. At any time you can also use student name and password
for Ticket to Read (will be taped in agenda when available). Additionally,
this website http://quizlet.com/24357406/common-core-vocabularygrade-grade-5-list-flash-cards/ is a site with a speaking function that
student can use to study the vocabulary words. If you have any questions
