Register now for Session B of the 17th Annual Medical Issues and the
Growing Child Conference: Topics in Pediatric Hearing Loss: A
Multidisciplinary Approach. The conference will be held on Friday,
January 13th, 2012 at the University of Miami Lois Pope Life Center’s
Apex auditorium, 1095 NW 14th Terrace, Miami, Florida.
This conference is designed to guide Speech Language Pathologists and
other clinicians in: 1) Improving the auditory and speech function of
children who are deaf or hard of hearing; 2) Mentoring and coaching
families during auditory verbal therapy using the principles of Listening
and Spoken Language (LSLS); 3) Presenting therapy options for
children with hearing loss; and 4) Describing lessons and strategies for
SLP and other clinicians who have no prior experience with children
who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The conference presenters include the members of the Barton G Kids
Hear Now Cochlear Implant Family Resource Center on the medical
campus of the University of Miami: Judy Horvath, M.A., LSLS Cert.
AVEd., the director of the Center, Myriam De La Asuncion, Au.D., an
Assistant Professor and Cochlear Implant Audiologist and Ivette Cruz,
Ph.D. an Assistant Professor and Licensed Psychologist at the Ear
Institute. The presenters will also comprise Alliete Alfano, PhD, the
owner and director of the Alfano Center and Millie Suarez, M.S., the
owner and director of Speech Pathology Educational Center (S.P.E.C.).
Continuing Education Units are offered for the following disciplines:
Psychology, Social Work and SLP/Audiology and are pending for
Nursing, OT/PT and Master Plan Points.
The non-refundable registration cost for attending this session is only
$35.00 for professionals and $20.00 for parents and students(w/ID). In
